About

I'm a cloud practitioner based in Wellington, New Zealand. I work as a Cloud Consultant, focused on cloud, DevOps, and platform engineering. I have spent nearly 13 years in large ènterprise environments in cloud, devops, as devloper and as integration engineer.

That's about as specific as I'm going to get on the personal details.

Why this site exists

My notes kept disappearing. Not literally — they were technically in some app — but practically they were gone. Notion, Bear, something in Teams, a OneNote section I forgot I had. The knowledge existed but it wasn't findable, and it wasn't shareable with anyone else who might need it.

I also have a habit of brain-dumping everything in one go and then never touching it again. The raw material is usually solid. The organisation is usually chaotic. Left alone, those dumps are useless to anyone including me six months later.

This site is my fix for that. When something is worth capturing, I get it out of whatever note-keeping app I've dropped it in and turn it into a page here. The thinking behind it is mine. The structure is more deliberate.

A word on how these pages are written

A lot of the content on this site starts as a brain dump — notes from a deployment, working through a problem, something I needed to remember. I feed those notes into GitHub Copilot and let it write the first draft. I review it, correct what's wrong, and add what's missing. But I don't pretend the prose is entirely mine.

If something reads a little non-human, that's probably what happened. Read those bits with appropriate scepticism. The underlying concepts are real; the phrasing might be AI-polished in ways that smooth over nuance. If there's a specific approach or a code block, test it before you rely on it — don't take it as gospel because it's written in complete sentences.

On screenshots and diagrams

Some visuals on this site were captured from YouTube videos, conference presentations, or public talks. I don't claim any of that as my own work. If something matches content you created, full credit goes to you — I'm sharing it to preserve context, not to misrepresent where it came from. If you'd like attribution added or the content removed, reach out.

Why it's public

I'm not the only person hitting these problems. If this site surfaces in a search and saves someone a few hours of reconstruction, that's the whole point.
